Nissan has launched its innovative ‘Race Academy’ for GT-R pre-order customers that could lead to them obtaining a full racing licence.
UK GT-R customers will be offered the opportunity to participate in Race Academy events at Silverstone or the spiritual home of the GT-R, the Nürburgring in Germany.
Every GT-R customer will be invited to Race Academy launch events during August and September to have their first opportunity to get up close and personal with the GT-R, long before taking delivery of their own vehicle.
With a focus on one-on-one tuition and over 45 minutes behind the wheel of the GT-R, Nissan will give their customers a memorable track-day experience. As well as flat out, on track action in a GT-R, there will be the opportunity to learn how to ‘drift’ in a Nissan 350Z.
Participants will also receive guidance on getting the most from their GT-R in the controlled environment of a track where the performance of the car can be fully exploited.
Furthermore, participants will be offered the opportunity to build upon the experience and craft their driving skills even further, eventually leading to obtaining a Motor Sport Association (MSA) approved racing licence.
Marketing Director Vincent Wijnen for Nissan Motor (GB) Limited states: “The GT-R epitomises Nissan’s passion for cars and we want to share the excitement and the thrill of the GT-R with our customers. To do that, we will give those GT-R customers the chance to spend some quality time with the car before they take delivery of theirs. On the one hand, these tailor-made customer events will whet their appetite for a car which the world’s press is already hailing as one of the most capable all-round supercars on sale today, while at the same time bringing together passionate, enthusiastic GT-R fans.”
Stephane Cottin, Vice President, Marketing for Nissan in Europe, said: “All of us at Nissan who have been working on the launch of this fantastic car want to provide a customer experience for GT-R customers which reflect the passion they have for GT-R, a passion which is matched by our own. It’s important to us that GT-R customers enjoy everything about the car - and these customer events will give customers the opportunity to fully enjoy the GT-R’s capabilities on a track, while they await delivery of their car.”
This is just one element of the customer focused programme for GT-R owners, designed to create enthusiastic owners who share Nissan’s passion for cars.
They really need to do this in the US. Force people to take the school prior to picking up a car. Many GT-R owners will run out of talent. Its happened already overseas. Most cars head in.
