Godzilla vs Super Snake

Motor Trend Magazine pitted a Nissan GT-R vs a Shelby Super Snake.  The GTR put 413 hp to all four wheels, the Super Snake 635 hp to the rear wheels. In real life its not all just about horsepower, as the GT-R destroys the Shelby in the quarter mile.

The dyno testing looks like it was done at K and N Engineering, the quarter mile was run at Fontana, but opposite the normal direction run.  Those magazine people are crazy.

It doesn't even looks like they use launch control on the GTR.... Mustang on street tire is lame.

The LC2 is pretty mellow on the GT-R. If you check out the videos of the YoParts R35, you see it comes off the line fairly soft then starts to boogie.

Haha, what a load of crap. The driver of the Shelby doesn't know how to drive. MotorTrend itself shows the GTR clocking the quarter in 11.9@120, and the Shelby clocks it in 12.0@120. Just by looking at those numbers the end of the race should show the Shelby being next to the GTR and right after leaving the GTR. I smell a conspiracy. Doesn't really matter though, because american cars can never compare to imports,...right?

2WD can never compare to 4WD, and MotorTrend is an American magazine, if anything, they should bias toward the Ford.

Sean, so you mean it is pretty hard to see LC2 being use huh?!

Thats funny that you say that 4WD can't compare to 2WD when all the lap records are help by 2WD cars.

All what lap records ? When the surface is not prepared, or a limited traction situation all wheel drive is going to win.

In an all out non traction or tire limited event, a 2wd car is going to win out in most circumstances. The 2wd car will be lighter and less complex.

Well I'm sure you're capable of naming a track but here's one to start, Nurburgring. The lap record for a production car is currently held by a 2WD per Wikipedia.

What's the sound track on the video. Awesome, the sound track and GT-R!

There is no "offical production car" record at Nurburgring.

Just claims by different manufacturers.

The official record was done during qualifying by a Porsche 956 with a 6:11.

So that is a rear wheel drive car, but its a rear wheel drive race car, not limited by tires or aero like a street car.

Well for not being a production car record, you sure spout the GTR lap times as if they are records.

Its not a record as there are no records. Just a benchmark. Just a number. The manufactures like to use them, people like to use them.

An all out race car is an all out race car. Street cars are always going to be limited by the tire, and more often than not, traction.

A big power street car trying to put traction down coming out of a corner will spin the tires, something most all wheel drive sreet cars will not do.

The trade off is weight and complexity of the all wheel drive car.

This isn't an debate of street car vs race car. This debate is whether 2WD is faster around a circuit than 4WD. And I say yes. If nurburgring isn't a record, fine, it's just a benchmark as you mention. But it doesn't matter because the 4WD cars aren't faster than the 2WD cars.

What a load of wankers you lot are.

Firstly none of you obviously have raced circuits. All things being equal a 2WD will generally thrash a 4WD on circuits without twisty corners and chicanes and with longer straights but a 4WD will belt the bejesuz out of a 2WD on a tight course.

22 years of race experience here, not some teenage wankers who know no better and wouldn't know their arse from their elbow in a race situation.
