One Lap of America 2012 - Day 7 Results

Day 7 sees the traveling band of One Lappers at the beautiful Road America track. Leh Keen driver, dominator of this event on the road course has had to leave to a prior race commitment. Doug Wilks will be behind the wheel at Road America. SpeedConcepts in second place is based out of Milwaukee, and they were just at Road America testing the car. However with a 340 point lead, and only three 375 total point events left, its going to be difficult to catch TopSpeed. Forged Performance and Catesby Jones had a pressure sensor failure in their transmission and they are out. There are only twenty points separating 2nd and 3rd place, and twenty points between fourth, fifth, and sixth place overall.

A little bit of drama in the TopSpeed camp this morning in the first session at Road America.
Coming to the end of the first lap Doug noticed the oil pressure gauge bouncing around and even flickering on the display screen. Doug being the technician that he is, instantly played through all of the scenariors in his head. The issue reaked of some type of sensor multifunction however it was not worth the risk. With not even one lap completed Doug pulled out of the power and finished the three laps remaining below 4000 RPM in order to ensure the engine was as safe as it could be. With our current lead giving up spots is much less risky then giving up the motor. After pulling in the pits after the session the oil pressure showed perfect even during a small full throttle pull on an access roadRoad America #1. Speedconcepts comes in 1st. GT-R's filling up the top spots. Even going easy, the TopSpeed car pulls in a 7th place. All 6 of the remaining GT-R's are in the Top 10. Not too shabby.

Road America # 2 . Doug did well in the TopSpeed car finishing just 9 seconds behind the SpeedConcepts Nissan GT-R. GT-R's again occupy 6 of the top 10 spots in this section.
